| Hand or Feet Washing Ceremony In the Hawaiian tradition, whenever a significant spiritual passage in life is made, you are called to Hiuwai (spiritual purifying). Honored by a ritual cleansing of the spirit in a sacred body of water. Today, we will wash the hands or feet and use water from the ocean as it has always been used for purification to bring pono (balance) to the spirit. Pouring the water over your hands or feet - Ke Akua (Great Spirit), we graciously ask for hiuwai, clearing away any opala (psychic trash), that may have been accumulated. Cast the light of aloha upon this couple; give restoration to their spirits. May the light of aloha…free them, so they may move forward, transforming pain, grief and disharmony into joy, balance and peace. So that they always walk and reside together in beauty, in balance, between ego and heart; honoring and respecting and maintaining domestic and spiritual harmony. May, aloha fill their heart’s as one, and give balance to their spirits. THE HAWAIIAN PRAYER Ke Akua, please protect the ones we love. We honor all you created as we pledge our hearts and lives together. We honor papa honua (earth mother), and ask for the joining of our spirits; to be abundant and grow stronger through the seasons. We honor a`hi (fire), and ask that our union be filled with the warmth and glow of your divine love both in heart and balance of spirit. We honor maka`ni (wind), and ask that we sail though life safe and calm. We honor wai (water), to cleans, soothe and renew our relationship; so that it may never thirsts for love. With all the forces of the universe you created, we pray for harmony and true happiness as we forever grow together in domestic and spiritual harmony. Amen |
