| THE ADDRESS Love is the greatest thing that we can give to one another, for love is a wondrous gift. When two people entrust one another with their innermost feelings, the bond between them strengthens and surrounds them, until each becomes a part of the other. This closeness cannot be measured by time, words or circumstance. It is a wholeness of the soul, and the highest form of intimacy. We are gathered here today, because love gathers us... And especially because love has found you both and woven you together into the great web of life. And to celebrate one of the most sacred of all ceremonies known to mankind, the joining of two people in the acknowledgement of their commitment to one another. You come together not as two halves to make each others lives whole, but as two whole beings; blending their lives together to walk hand in hand through whatever life chooses for you. And as quality of life is a choice, you have also chosen at this time to solidify your commitment to one another. THE LEI EXCHANGE The spirit of aloha is a way of life and well being embraced by native Hawaiians for hundreds of years. Traditionally the word aloha was a greeting reserved for loved ones by first rubbing noses and then inhaling each other’s breathe alo = in the presence of, ha = breath of life. In the ancient language of Hawaii, the lei, has always symbolized an extension of love, and the joining of ohana (family) and lokahi (unity). In your union, living your lives together in the spirit of aloha; acknowledges the divine within each ofyou and creates a solid foundation of trust and unity. Living aloha you will share the path of the heart, to go beyond where you have never been in your capacity to love and be loved. It is a courageous path, for it is the path of the heart that leads from this day; toward many beautiful tomorrows, and more happiness then either of you imagined possible. As you exchange these leis, you will now begin to weave your own lei of life. As a symbol that aloha will live in your hearts, souls, and in your sacred union; you may exchange your lei’s with one another. THE VOW EXCHANGE Do you promise to love and respect; cherish and encourage; laugh in the good times, struggle in the bad; care in sickness, enjoy in health; share your riches and honors; comfort with your body and soul; with a glad heart, treasure all the days of your life. Is this your heartfelt promise? If so, say I do. – Repeat THE RING EXCHANGE You will give this ring as a symbol the love lives deep within your heart and soul; that you are bound, always, with your love, your soul, and all your heart. As the place this ring onto the finger, I ask you too repeat these words: With this ring, I pledge to you the joy of all my days; I love you. Repeat THE RING BLESSING A circle is the symbol of the sun and the earth and the universe. It is a symbol of perfection, and of peace. In these rings it is the symbol of unity, in which your lives are now joined in one unbroken circle, in which, wherever you go, you will always return to one another and to your togetherness. THE PRONOUNCEMENT This couple has chosen each other, have declared their love and purpose before this gathering, and have made their pledge each to the other symbolized by the giving and receiving of rings. And with the power vested in me, by the State of Hawaii, it would be an honor and privilege, to pronounce you both Partners in Life. You may kiss. |
